The Windows XP and Vista system both feature an option to turn on and shut down the computer as a timed shutdown is implemented. This is to allow the user to turn off the computer without doing any damage to the machine. The fact is that a number of applications have been developed that allows this system to operate in this manner but the main reason that it is available is because Microsoft has developed a software program that is compatible with the windows operating system. This software can be downloaded for free and is designed to allow the computer to shut down to the user's choice of time.
There are a number of free applications available online that allow the user to shut down the computer without any cost. The best one that I have found is known as Timed Shutdown. This is a free application that is used to shut the machine down. I will warn users however that if the time runs out, there will be no chance of restarting the computer without the need for a download, and if the computer crashes before the time is up, then the user will need to download the program again.
